On the 25th of February, we drove. over to St. Simons Island, dropped Winston off at the vet's office there for day board and drove up through Hampton Plantation with its beautiful tree-lined streets, impressive houses and beautifully landscaped yards to the marina. Once there, we stepped aboard Capt. Joe's boat and took the short trip over to Little St. Simons Island.
We then got on the back of a pickup truck driven by Lauren, a naturalist and guide, who drove us through the maritime forest, stopping occasionally to point out things of interest.
Along the route, we stopped to visit with a mother alligator and her babies. These were just a few of them--others were sunning themselves in other patches of grass.
