Pearson Falls

We took a day trip up to Saluda, NC, to investigate that charming little mountain town.  We met a professional photographer on his way to a shoot who recommended a stop at Pearson Falls.  We went there and hiked up to the falls, enjoying the sounds of the mountain stream as it gurgled along beside us.

In Saluda we had to stop at Thompson's Store and Ward's Grill.  The general store was interesting and included a butcher shop where customers were standing in line for fresh cut meats.  Adjacent to the store is the Ward's Grill that cooks up that fresh-cut meat for its customers and cook everything fresh daily and to order.  I enjoyed one of their world-famous hamburgers, loaded, and a cup of their pinto beans--yum.

The mountains of North Carolina are beautiful over all seasons but display spectactular colors during the fall months.  These photos were taken in late September just as the leaves were beginning to turn as we traveled the Parkway up to Mount Mitchell.
