ALABAMA - Elberta Sausage Festival

There were a few musical groups, this being my favorite.  I loved the instruments and, believe it or not, these folks sounded great!
 The old washtub base.
These people were among many vendors selling their wares.  In this case, fresh stone-ground corn (grits and corn meal) ground right before your eyes.  When we heard the machine running, we immediately thought of the homemade ice cream machines you see at many festivals...admittedly, we were a little disappointed when we discovered the true purpose of this one.

ALABAMA

Scenes from the Elberta Sausage Festival, Elberta, Alabama

This is the smoke house that you can see from quite a distance away and you can definitely smell those sausages cooking at the festival.
Combine the heat of the burning charcoal and the density of the smoke we wonder how these guys got through the day, but they all worked hard flipping those sausages, replacing the charcoal, and serving them up.
